FALL PROTECTION TRAINING

This safety training course is designed for workers who are required to don a harness as a component of their personal protective equipment systems as a result of working at heights and/or in other high risk areas that may require emergency rescue.

What can you expect from our class?

Upon completion of this training, workers will understand:

  • Recognize work areas that will require the use of a harness based on WorksafeBC requirements. Requirements of the Mines Act are also covered.

  • Use a hierarchal system to mitigate the fall hazard to acceptable levels

  • The six systems of fall protection

  • Guardrail requirements

  • Components of a personal fall arrest system

  • Identify acceptable anchorage connection points and the legislative requirements

  • Written fall protection plan requirements

  • Basics of gravity and its effect on falling objects

  • Fall distances

  • Equipment inspection

Practical forms of evaluation are:

  • Completion of a fall distance calculation

  • Equipment inspections

  • Donning a harness correctly

  • Controlled weight transfer

  • Fall protection case studies

  • Multiple choice quiz based on course material

Course duration including
practical evaluation: 8 hours.

Certification valid for 3 years.
